Washing, drying and ironing

You should clean your shirt appropriately in accordance with the fabric is it made out of. Below is a list of our shirts and their fabric, with a guide on how to clean them properly.

Tailored Athlete formal shirts - TA101 | TA102

Washing

Tailored Athlete Formal Shirts are made out of a microfiber & cotton blend with added elastane (80% Microfiber, 17% Cotton, 3% Elastane).

It is recommended you wash your Formal Shirts on a cool wash - 30℃. Please do not dry clean, what a relief!

Drying

The best way to dry Tailored Athlete’s Formal Shirts is by hang drying them. Please do not tumble dry.

Ironing

Due to the Microfiber properties, our Formal Shirts are anti-wrinkle. This makes them a lot easier to iron than normal cotton shirts. Please iron on a warm temperature, do not exceed 150℃ sole-plate temperature.

Tailored Athlete casual shirts - TA103 | TA104 | TA105 | TA106 | TA107

Ironing

Due to the natural properties of cotton, it creases a lot easier than our Formal Shirts. Please iron on a hot temperature, do not exceed 200℃ sole-plate temperature. If you are finding it difficult to get the creases out of the cotton, don’t worry. Add a little bit of water to the shirt, or if your iron has a button to do this even better! This will break down the creases and enable easier ironing.

Product fit

Adjustable cuffs

All our Formal and Casual Shirts have adjustable cuffs. Feel free to experiment which buttons you find most comfortable. You also have the option of rolling up your sleeves due the design of the sleeve vent.

Shrinkage

Please note after the first wash all Formal & Casual Shirts and the Muscle Fit Tee’s are prone to a small amount of shrinkage due to the high percentage cotton blended into each of the fabrics used.

If when you first try on your shirt or Muscle Fit Tee and it is slightly loose or not as fitted as you wish, don’t worry, give it a wash and the fit should be spot on!*

If when you first try on your shirt or Muscle Fit Tee and it is already very fitted, please be aware that it will shrink a small amount during its first wash.

*Please note, any items that have been washed are not eligible for a return. You can read more about our return policy here - https://tailoredathleteclothing.com/pages/shipping-returns.

How to get rid of any stain

Stain 1 - Wine, sweat or blood stains

What you need:

  • Salt. Any kind will do
  • A bowl
  • Water. Both cool and boiling
  1. Stretch the stained area over a bowl
  2. Poor cool water over the stain
  3. Completely cover the stain with a millimeter or two of salt
  4. Leave it for five minutes
  5. Pour boiling water over the salt-covered stain (if you think the stain will be stubborn, leave it to soak in the salty water for ten minutes or so)
  6. Throw it in the wash

Stain 2 - Oil or grease

What you need:

  • Washing up liquid. Like Fairy liquid. It works because it's made to cut through oil and grease
  1. Cover the oil with lots of washing up liquid
  2. Fold the t-shirt so the liquid is soaking into the stain, and let it sit for a few minutes
  3. Throw it in the wash

Stain 3 - Any food stain

What you need:

  • Vanish spray
  1. Spray Vanish all over the stain
  2. Dab it into the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then throw it in the wash

Going somewhere nice - best way to pack your shirts and muscle fit tee’s

Is folding or rolling the better way to pack?

Everyone's got an opinion, but no one's 100 percent sure whether they're right.

Most people don't realise but rolling is better!

Benefits of rolling:

  • Gives you more space to bring extra clothes
  • Leaves less noticeable wrinkles than when folding (really! I know you wouldn't think so but try it)

How to roll a shirt:

  • Place the shirt front-down
  • Fold the sleeves in
  • Fold the shirt in half vertically. This will prevent a crease as the button placket isn't prone to creasing
  • Roll from the bottom up. Careful to roll continuously rather than folding to keep from making any creases

How to roll a Muscle Fit Tee:

  • Fold the sleeves in
  • Roll from the bottom up. Keep flattening out wrinkles as you roll to ensure it's as smooth as possible
  • Fold the rolled t-shirt in half. This will prevent a crease because the already-rolled shirt won't make a sharp fold
